Football, (soccer), has been one of my greatest passions in life, with the sport being a part of me since I was a child. As a kid, being a part of a team made it seem like football was an accessible sport in the United States. I would grow up to find out that that was not reality. Football pitches around the boroughs of New York City are some of the most uninviting and restrictive places. Unlike in other countries such as Italy where you can walk on to a pitch and kick the ball around with friends, the fields here require a great deal of effort to ensure you can play. Whether its due to permit holders kicking you off the pitch, out of the way placements of fields, or the poor conditions of the fields, finding a place to comfortably play football in New York City is extremely difficult.
